Herb Garden

Our Herb Garden Our dedicated volunteers have been collaborating with the BFGS to design various aspects of our open green space. Surprisingly, we overlooked the inclusion of herbs in our planning phases as of July 2025, except for their role in our sensory walkways.
Yoga Scotland conducted teacher training over the summer and graciously left a thank-you note for our friendly volunteers, along with a letter describing some potted herbs they had placed at the front of the hub. Technically, our staff are not supposed to accept gifts in kind; however, this situation felt different since it was for our community garden.
The note read: "Thank you for your help with our course. These are all culinary herbs: mint, cat mint, oregano, lemon balm (which is nice in tea), wild strawberry, and feverfew (a good treatment for migraines). In a small pot, you will also find evening primrose; it takes a huff when moved but will perk up afterward."
We absolutely loved this gift, as it perfectly aligned with our vision for green social prescriptions, providing nutritious herbal remedies for ailments and organic herbal tea grown right here at the hub.
Now, we needed to decide where to place our herb garden. We have plenty of space, along with rocks and soil. Elliot and Kenny jumped on the project and chose a spot next to our gardening bothy. We had previously asked the council to stop spraying this area and to refrain from cutting the grass, allowing us to create the perfect environment for our new herbs.
Or even better - someone that would like to learn, we have books materials money and access to resources, all we need is a project leader
