 **Project: Coffee Lounge Rejuvenation and Refurbishment**


We are excited to announce the launch of our Coffee Lounge Rejuvenation and Refurbishment Project, aimed at transforming this community space into a vibrant hub for social engagement and environmental education. We are committed to enhancing sustainability through upcycling, recycling, and repurposing, ensuring that our efforts contribute positively to the community and minimize waste.




The Coffee Lounge, which serves as one of the most sought-after rooms in the Polmont Community Hub, is in need of a refresh. The current furnishings, including dated leather seating and kitchen equipment, do not meet the demands of our growing community initiatives. With funding from the recent capital gains grant, we have acquired essential equipment, including a sandwich maker and an induction hob, and there is strong interest in starting a weekly soup and sandwich meeting focused on climate and environmental education.




To create a functional and inviting space, we plan to upgrade the kitchen area by incorporating an air fryer and additional cooking supplies. An underutilized storage cupboard in the Coffee Lounge, located beneath an old and disused water tank, will be repurposed to securely store this equipment when not in use. Additionally, we aim to address water ingress issues caused by the outdated drainage system, which has resulted in dampness and rotting wood. 


Resolving these water issues will not only restore the integrity of our space but will also eliminate an eyesore in the hub. Engaging the project management team to secure funding and repair estimates will be crucial for these necessary renovations. Importantly, we are committed to ensuring that any materials removed, such as the defunct water tank, are not sent to landfill. Instead, we will explore innovative ways to repurpose these materials, setting a precedent for sustainability within our community.




By revitalizing the Coffee Lounge, we aim to demonstrate the power of sustainable practices and inspire collective efforts towards zero waste initiatives. Our goal is to create a welcoming environment that supports community gatherings while educating others about the importance of reducing waste and lowering our carbon footprint. Let’s work together to build a coffee lounge that not only serves great coffee but also embodies our commitment to a sustainable future.

Tree Planting Dream

Internet Helping with Tree Planting At Polmont Community Hub,       we are passionate about trees. We consider their importance in all our activities, from reducing paper usage to supporting initiatives that help plant trees. Our preferred search engine is Ecosia, which proudly displays on their homepage that they have planted over 235,907,879 trees. While we haven't implemented our newsletter mailing plans yet, we intend to install EcoSend on our website as our preferred version of Mailchimp. Our Sustainability Manager is a member of the Green Runners community, where he promotes the "tees not trees" initiative, encouraging participants at running events to plant a tree instead of receiving a t-shirt. Very soon, we will be in a position to start planting numerous trees around the Hub, and we aim to expand this effort to our communities in Upper and Lower Braes.
